Why have I stopped losing weight?

This comes up often in my Health Behaviour Change groups. (If you’re in or around Skipton, you’re always welcome to check them out at www.EatMoveBeHappy.com). The question usually lands like this:

“What do I do? I’ve stopped losing weight.”

And because we talk through this as a group, the answer often ends up helping everyone else in the room. Over time, we realised people keep getting stuck in the same handful of places, so we built a quick checklist to help you figure out where things might be wobbling.

If you answer “no” or “I don’t know” to any of the questions below, you’ve just found the first place to look.

Here’s the checklist:

  1. Have you written down (and can you clearly recall) your reason for wanting to lose weight?
  2. Are you keeping a food diary right now?
  3. Are your meals planned at least 12 hours ahead?
  4. Are you getting at least five portions of fruit and veg each day?
  5. Do your meals line up with the Healthy Eating Plate?
  6. Are you focusing on one specific action to support your weight loss at the moment?

These are the basics. They’re the foundations. Everything else sits on top of them. And if the foundations are shaky or missing altogether, it’s no surprise that progress slows down or stops.

If you’ve hit a plateau and you’re struggling to tick these off with confidence, you might benefit from some deeper support. That’s exactly what my In Depth Coaching is designed for.
