Keeping an Activity Diary

Activity diary

Why this action helps

It is very easy to take the easy option and slip into a sedentary lifestyle, without really noticing it.  Tracking the activity and exercise you do, makes sure you can’t kid yourself into thinking you are active, when you really aren’t.

You can see how active, fit and strong you are now compared to the past or future versions of you.

How to do it

Record all the physical activity and deliberate exercise you do over the week.  There are a few ways you can keep an activity diary:

  • Write it with a pen in a regular diary.
  • Using various phone apps.
  • Making a spreadsheet on your computer.

But remember, it doesn’t matter how you do yours, as long as:

  • You actually complete it, not just think about completing it.
  • You can easily look back on it to compare how things change over time.
