Plenty of people burn years waiting for the perfect plan to fall from the sky. The “magic bullet”. The flawless diet. The ideal workout. The one routine that will finally make everything click.
While they’re searching for that unicorn, they do nothing. They tweak, they tinker, they hesitate. And meanwhile, the people who get ahead aren’t the ones with perfect plans. They’re the ones who start messy, learn quickly and adjust as they go.
They take one small step, trip over it a bit, then take another slightly better one. That’s it. No sorcery. No secret formula. Just tiny improvements stacked on top of each other.
If you catch yourself waiting for perfect conditions or endlessly polishing a plan because it’s “not quite right yet”, try switching gears. Use a simple feedback loop instead:
1. Start with what you’ve got.
No upgrades. No fancy tweaks. Take your current plan for a spin.
2. Afterwards, ask yourself three questions:
- What went well?
- What didn’t?
- What tiny change can I make before the next round?
3. Make that tiny change. Then test it again.
That’s it. Run the loop. Over and over. These small course corrections compound in a way that perfection-hunting never will.
You’ll be miles ahead of the person still sketching their “ultimate plan” on the back of an envelope.
Give it a go today. And tell me how your first loop turns out.
