Skipton Santa Fun Run 2019

This winters Santa 5k fun run on Sunday Nov 24th is now open for entry! We did it last year with Mark, from the Ilkley Get Moving class (bloody well done Mark!!!). And we are aiming to do it again this year.

It is a fun 5k route where everyone is dressed as Santa. A couple of thousand Santas run through the middle of the town cheered along by everyone else. It’s a great atmosphere, and this year, there will be a shorter, wheelchair friendly route available too.

So no one has any excuse and we are all gonna give it a go!

Are you ready for 5k?

Well, here are a couple of tips to help you make sure you are ready to cover the distance:

  • Get in training! The best way to improve something, is to do that thing lots!
  • Give yourself plenty of time to train up for it. The more practice over a longer period of time gives us better chance of success. So if you haven’t started training yet…start now!
  • Have a plan…

And so, if in doubt, here is the Couch To 5K training plan. It is a fantastic plan to help anyone get the ability to cover the distance. It is aimed at your average, sedentary, able bodied person. But it can work equally well for people with disabilities. I would just suggest stretching the training plan over more than the standard 9 weeks. You could double it if you like, and spend 2 weeks practising each stage.

Anyway, don’t forget to click on the Couch To 5K link and start your training….we will do this together!
