Keep your diary free for the following dates:
- Sunday June 9th, 2pm, Aireville park.
- Sunday June 30th, 2pm, Ilkley riverside park.
Because we are thinking of doing a Get Walking event on those dates.
What is Get Walking?
It’s really simple….it’s summer, so this is an excuse for us all to get out and about and enjoy the parks/weather/company. It is inspired by the Stroke Association Walk Your Way challenge (click here to learn all about it). We thought it was such an awesome idea! But we are not expecting you to walk 26 miles with us on either of these days. Our aim is to simply do whatever we can, whether it is 5 minutes or 65 minutes.
But imagine what we can do as a group! If there is enough of us, maybe we could get close to it if we combine all our walks? Who knows! But why not see what we can achieve. If we get our act together, there may even be refreshments at the end!
Oh yes, and it goes without saying, people can do either or both the walks. It’s always good to meet new people! And of course, we will make sure both are wheelchair friendly.
None of this is set in stone yet, so I’m relying on you to help me pin down the details and get it off the ground. So please let me know if you are up for it.
And if you are on Facebook, join us on the Get Moving group page (click here) and we can get organising!
Great idea! Peter and carer Lynne would love to join in and do whatever they can. They love walking in a riverside Garden, Ilkley. Sorry not to be able to join them as will just have finished teaching riding to children with disabilities and am running a holiday for disabled adults starting on Monday morning, 1st July
Oh that sounds fantastic Judy! We had a pony when I was a kid and I did a tiny bit of horse riding back then.
I hope the holiday goes well!
